In 2013, BRP Companies project The Acacia was selected for the NYSAFAH Award for Excellence Project of the Year.
NYSAFAH is a non-profit trade association representing the affordable housing industry in New York State. Their principal goal is to promote the development and preservation of affordable housing throughout New York. They seek to address the affordable housing crisis by working with their partners in government to ensure that affordable housing programs are cost-effective and meet the needs of communities around the State. They strive to promote policies to ensure that housing financed through the State and City of New York is resilient, energy-efficient and integrated.
NYSAFAH is the nation’s largest affordable housing trade group and played a leading role in establishing the nationwide Council of Independent State Housing Associations (CISHA), which drives critical advocacy work on federal housing policies and housing resources. NYSAFAH is a leading voice on numerous issues of importance to the industry both in New York City and upstate. Along with the New York Housing Conference and Enterprise Community Partners, NYSAFAH formed a Housing Coalition to speak with a unified voice in advocacy of expanded affordable housing for all New Yorkers.
Since its founding in 1998, NYSAFAH has steadily worked to expand and diversify both our membership and activities. This includes NYSAFAH 2G, a committee to engage younger professionals in the industry, and a statewide MWBE initiative to strengthen and increase participation of minority- and women-owned businesses in the affordable housing world.
